Food & Beverage Program

The main objectives that the exchange visitor is to achieve are to fully understand the day-to-day operations of the various departments within a hospitality setting and to understand the way the departments and divisions are managed. The trainee should obtain an overall view of the hotel organization and have an insight in how departments relate to each other. In addition, the trainee should learn new skills and technologies, by exposing them to American standards of service and management styles that differ significantly from those in their home country. Finally, through daily interaction at the training site and in the local community, the trainee will gain a better understanding of American culture and society. The trainee’s education and training will expose American associates to new knowledge of foreign culture and skills.  To develop knowledge and familiarity of the property and the key skills needed to follow the hotel’s standard operational procedures as well as meet guest expectation, the trainee will rotate through a series of key departments designed to progressively improve their skills.  Subsequent rotations will build on the skills the trainee initially acquires.  Over the course of the 18-month training period, the trainee will be exposed to the following hotel operations: Restaurant, Banquet and Administrative.

 
The trainee will learn the individual roles and responsibilities of Server Assistant, Server, Expeditor, Host/ Hostess and learn to function in a team atmosphere for the purpose of
 establishing the most efficient service possible including orchestrating the timing and rhythm of the guests dining experience.

·         Understanding server assistant duties.

·         Learning proper cash handling and cashiering procedures.

·         Mastering Basic Food Service.

·         Learning Host/Hostess role.

·         Understanding Food Expeditor procedures.

·         Learning the proper use of Point of Sale system.

·         Learning proper table service
